Astrology Update, April 13th, 2017: Changing Perspective

This morning the Moon in Scorpio sextiled Pluto in Capricorn, giving support from the transcendental ruler of Scorpio to our instincts and emotions traversing the deep oceanic realms of Pluto’s home sign.  Pluto’s transit through Capricorn emphasizes pragmatism and determination, and in aspect to the Moon in Scorpio gave power and fortitude to our feelings this morning.  We may have felt better equipped to navigate the realms of the powers-that-be at this time, less at odds with the forces that we cannot see and more able to hold our own when dealing with institutions during this transit.

The skies have been quiet for the rest of the morning and the afternoon, but now we get a flurry of lunar activity tonight.  First, the Moon in Scorpio opposes Mars in Taurus, pitting the classical ruler of Scorpio against his home sign.  We may find ourselves feeling emotionally stuck, or find that our physical energy doesn’t match our emotions or our instinctual reactions.  Some of us may find our energy amped up by this aspect, while others will feel drained.  Tensions may be increased by this aspect and tempers may flare, but since these are both fixed signs conflicts are more likely to center on issues of stubbornness, and are not likely to erupt quickly – if there is enough tension to cause an open quarrel, chances are that it’s been building for a while, and tonight is just a symptom rather than a cause.

A few hours later the Moon in Scorpio trines Chiron in Pisces, and we are able to more easily ferret out the causes of our sensitivities, the sources of old wounds.  We have the emotional courage now to face our weaknesses and patterns of trauma, and gain both deep understanding of our own wounds and compassion for the injuries of others in the process.  Chiron in Pisces has the wisdom of an old soul, able to discern the larger cycles of what we feel in the depths of the Scorpionic oceans, while also possessing a certain stoicism about our pain.  The Moon in Scorpio is not normally particularly eager to talk about matters of personal weakness, but this alignment can help put our perspective into the Scorpionic realms of psychology and occultism while maintaining the healing, sympathetic instruction of Chiron, and get us to open up about the hurts we have in common where we otherwise might not.

An hour later the Moon in Scorpio trines Venus retrograde in Pisces.  This creates a beautiful flowing state between our feelings and our affections, our instincts and our pleasures, combining the focus of Scorpio and the gentleness of Pisces, and reinforcing the spiritual leanings of both.  We may feel more compassionate and sympathetic at this time, more kindly and affectionate, but with the strength of Scorpio keeping us from turning into complete pushovers.  This starts a lunar void-of-course period that lasts until early tomorrow morning, so this is a good time to float in the emotional waters and find some companionable pleasures that don’t stray too far out of our comfort zones to fall back on, staying away from any significant new projects as we allow our receptive unconscious to process the lessons of the Moon’s transit through Scorpio and get ready for the more active emotional state of the Moon in Sagittarius.

And in keeping with the fire of the upcoming Sagittarian Moon, the big astrological news of tonight is the Sun conjuncting Uranus in Aries, no doubt making it hard to stay quiet and receptive during the void-of-course period.  Uranus tends to be an agitating force, even in supportive aspects, and while the conjunction can sometimes be favorable it is still a hard aspect.  Frustrations stirred up during the Moon/Mars opposition earlier may come into play again as the night progresses, especially when they relate to areas where we feel trapped or stuck.  Tonight we are likely to be unusually headstrong, willful, and unwilling to compromise when it comes to our own freedom.  We may experience sudden changes tonight, including technological breakthroughs, and this aspect favors those of us working in experimental fields.  Keep in mind however, that we may just as easily experience sudden disruptions, technological changes or glitches that throw our lives into an uproar, whether temporarily or more long-term.  Though these may seem to come out of nowhere, those of us who have been stuck in some portion of our lives have probably had the disruptive urge building for a while, and are only becoming conscious of it now.  Tonight is a night for the kinds of surprises that impart intuitive knowledge, and can have a long-term impact if we allow ourselves to see how such changes fit into our lives and where such disruptions could be just what the doctor ordered.

Astrology Update, April 9th, 2017: Where Have I Been? (Fun With Mercury Retrograde)

To those of you who missed my post that should have happened yesterday, I apologize for its absence, and offer the following as explanation:

While I don’t normally discuss my health problems in public, and generally try to work around them as much as possible so that they don’t disrupt my writing, speaking, or event appearances, over the past few months my health has gotten much worse.  I’ve wrestled with a combination of autoimmune and genetic disorders for a few years now, but in recent weeks they’ve become unruly enough to limit my activities significantly.  Again, I normally try to work around my symptoms wherever possible, as I’d rather not allow illness-imposed limitations to define me.  But this weekend has had me in some of the worst pain I’ve yet experienced, and while my dear friends at CoSM helped me to navigate it well enough to read Tarot for guests at this weekend’s Full Moon Gathering and beyond, my limited energy has forced me to make some hard choices regarding what I can and can’t do.

I had written a fair portion of yesterday’s analysis before the worst of the pain hit me, but eventually got to a point where I simply couldn’t focus on the screen anymore, and stayed in pain and distracted enough by it for the rest of the day that I could not return to my writing until today.  Given that yesterday saw the station of Mercury turning retrograde, it is perhaps appropriate that this was the day when I just couldn’t keep up with my writing alongside the Tarot readings and the health struggles – Mercury retrograde in Taurus is very concerned with what is practical, after all, and writing yesterday turned out to be a practical impossibility for me.

This should not be taken as an indication that I will not continue to write, as multiple people have indicated that these updates are helpful to them, and writing about the astrological events of the day is something that I generally find enjoyable.  However, this weekend’s experiences have made it clear to me that I can’t continue to be completely stoic in public about what I’ve been going through, and sometimes I have to drop one mode of service and communication for a bit in order to be able to maintain another.  I hope that these quiet intervals don’t detract too much from the overall flow of useful information for my readers here, and I appreciate your understanding as I navigate the more difficult spaces in my personal journey.

*******

Yesterday’s lunar activity was mostly in the very early morning hours, starting with the Moon in Virgo opposing Venus retrograde in Pisces, putting our rational, practical instincts and emotions at odds with our reassessment of our affections and modes of connecting with others.  For those of us who were still awake (or just waking) at that hour we may have found ourselves pulling back from connecting with others, or feeling more isolated, and reassessing our relationships as a result.  Our dreams may also have been affected by this influence, and it is worthwhile to note any dreams remembered for information that may be useful to us in navigating our relationships as we move forward through this retrograde period.

Within minutes of the Moon/Venus opposition the Moon in Virgo squared Saturn retrograde Sagittarius, reinforcing the continuing reverberations of the previous day’s Venus/Saturn square on an emotional and instinctive level, creating a T-square formation with Saturn as the release point for the tensions built up during the Moon/Venus opposition.  Since Saturn reinforces limitations, this is not an easy release point, but rather a reminder of the need for discipline and boundaries to help navigate challenging waters in our relations with others.

The Moon turned void-of-course with this configuration, emphasizing the need to reflect on the lessons of the aspects that we have experienced during the Moon’s transit through Virgo.  The void-of-course period is a reflective, receptive space in the lunar cycle, a time to ease down from our usual action-orientation and float in our unconscious for a while.  Since the Moon/Saturn square can have us feeling lonely and isolated, it can help to be with close family and friends during void-of-course periods, falling back into routine and waiting until the Moon enters the next sign before embarking on anything new.

Yesterday this period only lasted a few hours before the Moon entered Libra, still in the morning.  Our instinctive responses became less critical and fussy, and more concerned with peace and harmony, more interested in building and maintaining our relationships.  Since Libra is an air sign, it is still more cerebral than touchy-feely, more interested in the theory of emotion than getting in the thick of our messier feelings.  Libra is ruled by Venus, and carries forward some of the detail-orientation of Virgo by emphasizing a desire for beauty and harmony on all levels, which can lead the Libra Moon to be thrown off-balance by even minor disruptions in our environments.  The Libra Moon may be rational, but that doesn’t stop it from being romantic and idealistic, and we may find ourselves more easily distressed now by the discrepancy between how we want things to be and how they actually are.  That said, Libra eternally sees both sides of an equation, knows that there are multiple perspectives and multiple stories at work in any situation, and is obsessed with balancing the scales.  We may find ourselves far more concerned with what is “fair” now, and less quick to take action or make decisions without carefully weighing the consequences, especially those that affect other people.  Given Libra’s ruler Venus’ current retrograde, we may find that this Libra Moon is even less decisive, more caught up in considering and reconsidering our interactions with others and our feelings toward them.  Our aesthetic sense can be heightened by this transit, and so can our sociability, even with the lingering influence of the Venus/Saturn square and both of those planets’ retrogrades.  We may find that sociability a bit more awkward than is normal for a Libra Moon, but the instinct to pursue it is still there.

To add to the awkwardness, the late afternoon/early evening saw Mercury stationing retrograde in Taurus, bringing the number of planets currently retrograde up to four.  Mercury retrograde has a rough reputation in the popular consciousness as a time of technological and communication mishaps, and yes, it pays to be extra careful about backing up data, re-reading emails before we hit “send” and spending a bit more time on editing, and being cautious with travel plans and contracts.  With this retrograde crossing back over the first few degrees of Taurus and heading back into Aries, this is a time to reconsider our thoughts and communication in relation to practical matters in the physical world, including our bodily health for the Taurus portion of the retrograde (Taurus being very rooted in sensory experience and Mercury governing health and medicine), with the retrograde reflection turning to matters of personal will, focus, and identity later this month with the Aries portion of the retrograde.  With Taurus’ ruler Venus in retrograde as well, there may be a need to give extra consideration to how our communication impacts our relationships both in the practical world of Taurus and in the more self-concerned and action-oriented world of Aries.  Shared technology may especially be affected, with potential mishaps highlighting disparities between the communication needs of those sharing that tech.  For people with Mercurial temperaments or working in Mercury-related fields (health, media, teaching), this retrograde may feel slow and ponderous between now and the last week of April, and then suddenly feel more active (but also potentially more disruptive) during that last week of April and the first few days of May.  For Mercury-ruled signs (Gemini and Virgo) especially, Mercury retrograde can lead to feelings of being stuck, but it can also be a time to get off the treadmill of constant mental activity and communication, and it definitely pays to schedule more time for meditation and reflection now, so that we can move forward with more clarity when Mercury goes direct in May.  Seeing this time as an opportunity rather than an obstacle really does help.

Yesterday evening saw the Moon in Libra sextiling Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius, giving some gentle support to our emotions and instincts from the more intense side of our unconscious, exploring the darkness within our beliefs without getting us too bogged down in it, instead helping us to gain a greater sense of wholeness regarding what we believe and how that impacts our feelings and our relationships.  We were likely to be drawn to spend more time with those who shared our beliefs last night, reinforcing tribal ties and enhancing our faith and optimism through our social connections.

Astrology Update, April 8th, 2017: Isolation and Control

Today starts out with a late-morning trine from the Moon in Virgo to Pluto in Capricorn, bolstering our instinctive responses with a sense of power and control, and the feeling that the hidden powers in our lives have actually got our backs at this time.  We are better at ferreting out hidden information at this time, especially in relation to practical matters, and have a greater sense of determination now.  Our goals may seem clearer as well, and we are likely to pursue them with a fervor, and our feelings may intensify as well during this time, though the supportive flow of the trine makes that intensity an asset now.

This afternoon that intensity gains focus with a trine from the Moon in Virgo to Mars in Taurus, taking the emotional power generated by the Moon/Pluto trine and funneling it into our energy and drive.  Since these signs are also earth signs, this is a very practical energy, steady and secure.  We are not likely to move quickly under this influence, but the actions that we do take are firm and clear, and oriented toward growth and process.  We have a greater sense of how our actions fit into a course of progress, and can methodically take the steps that we need to manifest what we desire in the material world.

However, this afternoon also sees a square from Venus retrograde in Pisces to Saturn retrograde in Sagittarius, which may impart a sense of coldness to our interpersonal connections now, and a degree of insecurity in how we relate to others.  Feelings of depression and isolation are heightened now, and we may find ourselves behaving more brusquely without even intending to or knowing why.  Things we have previously taken pleasure in may now seem dissatisfactory or frivolous, and we may take a dismal outlook on our own values now, questioning why things matter to us, or even if they matter.  We may limit our own indulgences now, unwilling to waste time on lightheartedness, yet our practical, serious orientation may also suffer from a certain discontent, as our more affectionate side questions why, why must we submit to this isolating, restrictive mood?  We simultaneously feel the need to exert discipline over ourselves even as we struggle with the joyless feelings this invokes.  Since both Venus and Saturn are retrograde now, this challenging aspect invokes the need to reconsider how we contribute to our own isolation, when we must remove ourselves from things we find fun in order to tend to our responsibilities, and how to keep the balance between our isolating discipline and our pleasurable affections, and where they need to mix.  Not an easy mixture to be sure, but good boundaries can enhance our ability to relate to others, not just dampen it, so this is a necessary lesson.

Tonight the Sun in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn, and the tension of the Venus/Saturn square gets an added tension to contend with, as our conscious urge toward self-determination is challenged by the hidden forces in our lives, the powers-that-be clamping down on our ability to step fully into the adventure of our lives.  We may find our fight-or-flight response stirred up by this aspect, making us either more contentious or more avoidant, depending on what fears the influence stirs up.  We may find ourselves forced to confront endings or transitions that we would rather avoid, secrets coming to light in especially disruptive ways, and we may find ourselves feeling out of control as a result, potentially making some of us scramble to regain that control and setting us at odds with others in a similar state of unease.  We are likely to find ourselves drawn to intense situations that bring out these feelings, even if we want to avoid them (and sometimes especially when we want to avoid them!).  Conflicts are more likely to erupt tonight, and those of us in already abusive situations may find those coming to a head at this time.

Later tonight the more emotional after-effects of today’s two big squares are likely to make themselves known, with the Moon in Virgo opposing Chiron in Pisces putting our more rational instincts in conflict with our deep, inner hurts.  We may be made more aware of the patterns of injury that we subject ourselves to in the aftermath of the Venus/Saturn and Sun/Pluto squares, as Chiron forces us to feel these wounds deeply.  Since the Moon in Virgo is ruled by intellectual Mercury, this is not a lunar placement that is comfortable with these kinds of deep feelings, so this can be a difficult awareness, as we try to balance our rational feelings with a sense of injury that we don’t know how to heal for ourselves.  Navigating through this period successfully is aided by talking through things with people we trust, or for those of us who don’t have that option doing journaling and a lot of self-care, particularly with regard to our bodies, as the Virgo Moon finds it easier to deal with emotional health through the vehicles of mental and physical health.  This is also a time to be conscious of how our current experiences fit into our long-term patterns of growth, as Virgo is attuned to cycles of growth.  Above all, we should endeavor to be compassionate with ourselves and others tonight – this is a day when we are processing a lot of powerful information about ourselves and our ability to relate to others, which can give us long-term insights that extend far beyond ourselves and our immediate circumstances, and choosing to confide those experiences tonight can help effect deep healing for ourselves and others if we are willing to admit to and try to understand our pain.

Astrology Update, April 5th, 2017: Isolating Beliefs

Today sees few astrological aspects, but those that are happening pack a wallop.

This morning started out very early with the Moon in Leo trining Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius.  Black Moon Lilith operates on the unconscious level like the Moon, but being between the Moon and the Sun, hers is the unconsciousness closest to consciousness, the place where the wisdom that we have gained during receptive times begins to move toward the active world.  These two together can have a powerful effect on our emotions and our instinctive reactions, helping us to move with confidence and decisiveness without over-thinking situations.  Under this influence, we were likely to be more direct, with a greater desire to explore our world and express ourselves within it.  Of course, since this aspect occurred during the wee hours of the morning in the Western Hemisphere, we may have found that the only exploring we were doing was in our dreams, but the lingering effects of this influence were likely to set us off on a strong foot once we did wake up.

Though no notable astrological activity occurs from then until much later tonight, the events of tonight involve forces that we are likely to feel building throughout the day.  First, the Moon in Leo trines the Sun in Aries, which is a lovely aspect of flowing support between our unconscious and conscious selves, made even more potent by this morning’s Moon/Black Moon Lilith trine having effectively primed the pump for wisdom to flow from the unconscious to the conscious mind, and direction and awareness to flow back in return.   With both Luminaries in fire signs, we are oriented toward action and self-awareness now, decisive in our self-expression and filled with energy and vitality.  This is one of the most favorable aspects possible, which we’re going to need to help balance the more discordant energies of both tonight and the rest of the week.

Within 15 minutes of the Sun/Moon trine, Mars in Taurus trines Pluto in Capricorn, putting our focus and drive in a supportive state of flow with our power and sense of control.  This is a potent aspect for achieving what we want in the material world, though with Pluto’s involvement it is best if what we are achieving benefits others as well as us, and doesn’t abuse our own power – when we use Pluto’s power for purely selfish ends the Lord of the Underworld has a way of making us regret the outcome.  This aspect can make us more aggressive and even compulsive, but the trine is the most supportive of aspects, so it is still a helpful influence overall.  This alignment sees our own energy and capability supported by the unseen forces in our lives, and we are able to better navigate between what we can and cannot control, harnessing the determination of Capricorn and the staying power of Taurus to help us persist in the face of adversity.

In combination with boost of feeling and awareness provided by the Sun/Moon trine, that persistence is going to be hugely necessary, both for tonight and in the coming weeks, as tonight’s big astrological news is Saturn stationing retrograde in Sagittarius.  Saturn is the Lord of Karma, the Cosmic Taskmaster, governing time, process, and discipline.  Saturn reveals our fears and insecurities, the places in our lives where we feel we are simply not up to the task before us, and the places where we have failed to live up to our responsibilities.  In Sagittarius, he’s been addressing our beliefs, our willingness to speak our truth, where we fall into strident self-righteousness and refuse to accept or work with the beliefs of others.  During his transit of Sagittarius, our ideals have been sorely tested, and because of his rulership of Capricorn (where Pluto is currently transiting), Saturn tends to do his testing through material means, limiting finances, hitting our jobs and our reputations, or in some cases our health and our literal, physical means of doing things.  Now, he’s stationing retrograde, his movement forward through the sky apparently halted from our vantage point, getting ready to grind back through the lessons of the past few months, and not turning direct again until August.  And as if all of that isn’t enough, Venus retrograde is moving into a square with Saturn that will become exact this Saturday, setting the tone for this Saturn retrograde to impact our relationships as well, and our self-image, not once but twice, since this square will repeat itself later in April once Venus goes direct.

When a planet stations, issues pertaining to that planet are emphasized, and Saturn issues tend to bring about a lot of seriousness, even depression and despair, particularly when squaring Venus.  In synastry, the astrology of relationships, a Venus/Saturn square is a heartbreak aspect, the kind that keep us locked into our hurt because Saturn contacts create longevity, while Saturn’s heightening of our fears and insecurity and deep reserve challenging Venus through the square acts like a wall of ice pushing away affection and connection and love.  We can feel incredibly isolated under the influence of a Venus/Saturn square, and because Saturn’s retrograde starts in close proximity to that square and includes another Venus/Saturn square in late April, that theme of isolation is likely to be emphasized throughout this retrograde.  It is really important during this time to take steps to care for our own emotional needs during this time, and make the extra effort to reach out to loved ones, as we can wind up in some very dark places otherwise.  Unfortunately, we may find ourselves bumping up against all that we haven’t done when it comes to our relationships, all of the ways in which we haven’t been present or have neglected our responsibilities.  We are likely to experience real-world setbacks that have mirrored setbacks in our relationships.  And given the amplification of our feelings under tonight’s Sun/Moon trine and the intensification of our drive under the Mars/Pluto trine, we may feel like we are being pulled in multiple directions at once, wanting to power forward with our passions while simultaneously being forced to put on the brakes.

This retrograde is a time when we need to tend to the process of this intersection between how our material insecurities affect our beliefs and our how both impact our ability to give and receive affection and be in relationship with others.  This is not likely to be an easy time, and the Venus/Saturn square’s influence may well make it a lonely time, but the combined influence of the Sun/Moon trine and the Mars/Pluto trine tonight adding their tone to this retrograde give us some seriously powerful tools for navigating our way through whatever obstacles Saturn is asking us to face.  Though Saturn has a fearsome reputation, especially when he is retrograde, we would do well to remember that the big, bad boogeyman of our solar system bears a six-sided storm at his North Pole, a shape of stability that is numerologically associated with love.  Let that sink in for a moment:  Saturn is crowned with love.  Tough love, to be sure, but still love.  Saturn isn’t out to get us.  He does not throw anything in our path without simultaneously giving us the tools with which to face it.  Saturn is about time and process, yes, and karma and facing the consequences of our actions as well, but most importantly for our purposes now he is about discipline.  He is the classical ruler of both Capricorn and Aquarius, one sign known for its persistence and devotion and the other known for its social idealism and pursuit of progress – all qualities worth cultivating.  By respecting Saturn’s process and all that he reveals to us during this retrograde we can cultivate the attitudes and skills needed to face the most challenging circumstances of our lives and in the process more truly understand what we believe and how we love, and forge the beliefs and relationships we most deeply desire as a result.  Saturn may seem a grim teacher, but he is still a teacher, and if we are willing to see him as such, even a friend.

Astrology Update, April 4th, 2017: What the Heart Wants

This morning started off with the Moon in Cancer squaring Uranus in Aries, giving an agitating feeling to the morning.  Our dreams may have proven disruptive since both the Moon and Uranus are highly intuitive, but their intuition shows itself in very different ways.  Some of us may have woken up earlier than usual as a result, or had a hard time focusing on the tasks to start our day, as the Moon in Cancer wants to stay comfy in familiar surroundings and Uranus in Aries wants to move boldly forward, often quite abruptly.  Or, we may have experienced some technological difficulties, as the Moon governs fluctuations and cycles, and Uranus governs sudden change and technology, and the two in hard aspect together can throw a monkey wrench in electronic works.

Whatever the case, we may have experienced a bit of stumbling around early this morning, whether figurative or literal, but later this morning the Moon in Cancer trined Chiron in Pisces, helping us to have compassion for both our stumbles and those of others, and to connect with each other over the things that pain us.  Our mutual frustrations can help us to understand each other, and this is one of the few influences where commiseration can actually yield real and mutually beneficial wisdom, so the latter half of the morning may well have helped us to make progress through and even because of our hurting places rather than just in spite of them.

This afternoon the Moon in Cancer trined Venus retrograde in Pisces and turned void-of-course at the same time.  This creates an interesting influence at this time, as the Moon is typically identified the feminine Luminary in astrology (the Sun being the masculine) and Venus is of course the feminine personal planet and also the feminine Benefic (Mars being the masculine personal planet and Jupiter being the masculine Benefic).  The void-of-course period is a time when the Moon is no longer making aspects to the major planets before entering a new sign (though she may still make aspects to the asteroids and Trans-Neptunian objects like Chiron), and therefore is considered to be in a passive, receptive state rather than an action-oriented state.  While female, male, and non-binary gendered people all have varying degrees of passive and active energies within them, passivity and receptivity are traditionally considered feminine qualities, and while there is certainly merit in rejecting the assumption that if one identifies as female one must be passive, nonetheless it can be considered a triumph of the patriarchy if, in our desire to not be chained by traditionally feminine qualities we reject them outright.  Yin (passive) and Yang (active) are both necessary qualities to keep the universe functioning.  The void-of-course period is considered to be a time when taking new and decisive action is ill-advised and not likely to turn out as desired precisely because it is a time meant for reflection, a time to be passive and receptive and absorb the lessons of this lunar transit before the Moon enters the next sign.  This is a time to fall back on routine in order to allow our unconscious to better function on this intuitive, receptive level, to let ourselves be open and empty before the information of a new sign enters our unconscious.

That new sign in this case is Leo, which the Moon enters late this afternoon.  A Leo Moon gives our emotions and instincts a proud bearing, louder and bolder than the Moon in Cancer.  The Moon in Leo bounds to center stage, eager to express our feelings for all the world to see.  This is not a timid Moon, to be certain.  Leo is all about self-expression and having a zest for life, and like the king of the jungle is eager to claim its throne.  I’ve long said that the way to make a Leo happy is to find whatever it is that they most consider their own and give it to them, because Leo wants what it considers to be its “lordly due,” and won’t be happy without it.  That “lordly due” could be something as simple as recognition of the Leo’s talents in one particular favored area, or just saying “hello” to Leo first among a group of people.  Once they get it, they shine like the Sun that rules this sign, and a shining Leo is a passionate and magnanimous light that can fill up a whole room.  So, with the Moon now entering Leo, a suggestion for this transit is to consider what our hearts and the hearts of others around us want as their “lordly due” and act on the generous nature of this Moon to grant it where possible.  This isn’t a matter of people-pleasing or self-indulgence, but rather a matter of understanding what we each need to shine, and recognizing how the shining of one heart under a Leo Moon’s influence can be contagious, in ways that benefit all who experience that light.

Considering what each person’s unconscious views as its deserved right is also a necessary tool for navigating conflict under this Leo Moon, and we’ll get the opportunity to put that tool to the test tonight when the Moon in Leo squares Mercury in Taurus.  The Moon in Leo can be demanding in its need for attention, but Mercury in Taurus is determined and practical, and not interested in catering to Leo’s grandiosity.  Our minds are concerned with getting things done in the material realm, whereas our emotions and instincts want fun!  Even big cats want to play, after all, and the patient, plodding mentality of Mercury in Taurus may seem like a boring stick-in-the mud in contrast.  Our conversations may stumble as a result, or generate friction and flaring tempers, as Leo just can’t understand why Taurus won’t stop whatever boring, practical thing it’s fixated on and pay attention, and our minds and hearts end up at odds.  Since Leo and Taurus are both fixed signs, neither one is likely to budge.  This challenge between what we want and what we think requires a certain degree of strategy and compromise to navigate, which doesn’t come naturally to either of these two signs.  Finding a way to make them both happy is our task for the night, giving attention to what matters most to both and in the process harnessing the combined power of Leonine enthusiasm and Taurean determination.  If these two can work together there is no power that can stop them.

All aspect times used in creating this post are calculated for Pacific Standard Time.  I tend to speak in broad terms when I reference time on this blog, referring to time-frames like “morning” or “afternoon” rather than specific times, since I still have a lot of friends on the East Coast who read these posts and I’d like them to be pertinent to those friends as well as folks here on the West Coast.  Readers from further abroad will need to adjust time-frames accordingly.

Please keep in mind that we all have different responses to the aspects of the day because we all have different natal and progressed charts with which these aspects interact.  If you would like to know more about your own natal and progressed charts in order to better understand how the aspects of the day will affect you, please take a look at my astrological services, and let’s get started on helping you to understand your life better!  The threads of fate can only be adjusted when we start from a place of deep self-knowing.
